How to make ratatouille

Summer is almost over so you know what that means... lets use all the vegetables in the fridge!!! while it pours buckets outside and the power flickers on and off, me and louise are making ratatouille and sweating bullets while i take pictures of everything at every stage of the process and imagine what it would be like to be a cool cosmopolitan food blogger (isnt it just this? arent i doing it?)

this sexy eggplant i bought at the co-op is calling my name. wow, uh, shes kinda... omg what do i say, im so nervous?? :P

were bringing everybody to the party. all the half-eaten veggies in the back of the fridge are coming back for their reprise. hello everybody!! youre all gonna do such a good job, i just know it! :D
in case youre following along at home, ive conveniently labelled all of our actors.

once all of those guys are dealt with, we sorta go ahead and take it up a notch with some incredibly choice herbs and spices courtesy of lou, and in lieu of white wine vinegar, we have the understudy take over (regular vinegar and lemon juice). at this point i'm still directing louise to take documentary footage of every step in the process to feed my ever-expanding delusion, even though i've moved to the other room to draw on paper plates.

i love cooking with other people. just another example of the careful art we make of life every single day.

anyway... uh... well, im sure you all know what happened next...

sorry for the graphic imagery. im sure they all went to heaven.
in their final act, the vegetables filled our bellies big and round while we watched Nodame Cantible.
thank you everyone, you were very yummy.
